Night Time Drama

The glowing cabinets  in blue or red are the after-dark highlight of this kitchen renovation for a classic home. Shane George’s brief for this extensive renovation was to open up the kitchen space to the outdoor courtyard, and remodel the kitchen, laundry and other utility areas. The clients wanted a scullery kitchen, bar seating at the island, a large fridge, two ovens, and a generous-size cooking hob, and a modern look with impact. The best location for bar seating was at the narrowest point in the kitchen. To create space, the fridge was recessed into the wall behind. A functional scullery with sink, dishwasher and bar fridge is accessed through a secret door. Although it’s unfussy, the impact comes after dark, with lighting creating mood and atmosphere.
