The way you make me feel

Michelle Halford of The Design Chaser clues us up on the impact interesting textures can make.

In association with Fisher & Paykel

THE INSPIRATION:
The light and airy beauty of this elegant kitchen in a tastefully simple Swedish summerhouse is thanks in part to its pitched roof and high windows. I adore the clean lines of the exposed ceiling beams and classic subway tiles, but my favourite feature would have to be the textured concrete walls, which bring contrast and a sense of warmth to the predominantly white palette. Giving the space an informal feel, this finish also ties in perfectly with the polished concrete flooring and dining table. Warm timber accents and a pair of sophisticated pendant lights complete the look.

EXPERT STYLE TIPS:
To full effect Dulux has introduced a new range of paint products that mimic the look of concrete, stone and suede. To create this textural concrete-look finish, I used Dulux Concrete Effect.
Hang in there High ceilings provide the ideal opportunity to use pendants to light workspaces and make a statement. Be sure to choose shades that are a size and shape that fits the scale of your kitchen.
Fine form For the best of both worlds, I’ve combined Fisher & Paykel’s induction and gas cooktops, and the Wall Chimney Box rangehood is powerfully stylish overhead. To house your wine collection, look to the 50 Bottle Dual Zone wine cabinet, a chic solution with maximum storage.
