Leonie Metge: Cube 3 Cabinetry

THE DESIGN
The culinary heart of a new home in Karaka Lakes, south of Auckland, this kitchen was designed to suit a professional couple who love to play host. It’s situated within an elongated room that opens onto a large deck, creating an open-plan entertaining area that takes in the view of the lake beyond.
Pocket doors and integrated appliances mean the working zones in this kitchen aren’t apparent at first sight, and to the left is a scullery that can be accessed without interrupting the workflow of the main space.
This is a highly functional kitchen that integrates flawlessly with the material palette and design aesthetic of its surrounds. Intended to also be part of the larger picture, the stained textured veneer, flat-plate stainless steel, cantilevered limestone and matte black benchtops, and vertical lines of the timber panelling used here echo the exterior of the home too and, in turn, the wider environment.

Ingrid Geldof: Ingrid Geldof Design

THE DESIGN
Befitting of a new, Georgian-style home, this ensuite is beautifully classic with a touch of drama. With access from the walk-in wardrobe, its highlights include two vanities, an inset bath, private shower and toilet spaces, lots of storage and a laundry chute.
The entrance from the dressing room is framed by the dark-stained vanities and places the focus on the bath, which features elegant raised panelling and is lit by an impressive chandelier suspended overhead. The custom-made vanities’ dark solid-timber raised-panel doors create a striking contrast with the Caesarstone tops and Carrara marble-look porcelain tiling.
Vanity lights positioned on either side of the grand feature mirrors provide excellent functional lighting for practical purposes, while the dimmable chandelier and LED strips placed under the bath plinth have an aesthetic appeal and encourage a wonderfully restful ambience.
