Here comes the sun

… so let’s make a plan for graciously ushering it in or keeping it out.

In association with Luxaflex.

Hands up who’s ready for spring and summer?! Our collective excitement is rising with the temperature, though the wise among us know getting prepped to enjoy the warmer months requires more than just dusting off your jorts — your house needs readying too. Just like bikini bodies are made in advance, your best summer at home starts now, with the addition of fabric awnings and timber shutters that let you make the most of your spaces out and in.

Nice shades

Finding the perfect blend in a sunny courtyard or on the deck is a cinch with Luxaflex’s Te Rā Folding Arm Awnings. The international company combed the globe to find the ultimate design for New Zealand conditions, selecting a Swedish innovation ideally suited to Aotearoa’s four seasons in one day that performs shine, rain or hail.
Spanning widths of up to 7m, offering a 4m depth and able to fit narrow areas as well, five styles make up the Te Rā Folding Arm Awnings range, allowing you to customise yours for coverage, stability and ease. Robust and ultra-functional, they put you in the driver’s seat with manual or motorised operation, pitch control, and sun and wind sensors.
Luxaflex Te Rā Folding Arm Awnings are crafted from Dickson Orchestra fabric, which offers long-term protection against UV rays, heat and glare. In a huge selection of colours and prints,  it’s treated to make it water- and dirt- resistant, and supported by hardware that’s 15 times stronger than steel, in three can’t-go-wrong neutral hues.

MAIN IMAGE Luxaflex Te Rā Folding Arm Awnings’ Dickson Orchestra fabrics are solution-dyed, meaning the colour pigments are incorporated into the core of each Sunacryl fibre during the manufacturing process, for long-lasting, vivid hues. Window to the world

Bringing a touch of that European charm to our neck of the woods, shutters allow you to beat the heat and avoid UV-bleached indoor furnishings, or let the sun shine in and a breeze blow through. They also maximise your privacy and minimise noise pollution.
Constructed from timber sourced from sustainable forestry, Luxaflex’s timeless Countrywoods Timber Shutters are custom-made to fit your windows (or doors). At once a window shade and joinery feature, they’re available in 18 hues to suit any colour scheme. For living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms and beyond, they come in three configurations — hinged, bifold and sliding — all without screw holes for the cleanest of clean lines. You can also choose from three sizes of elliptical or flat louvres, and two tilt bar styles — the classic plantation-style front tilt, or the ClearView hidden tilt for a more streamlined, contemporary effect.
And that’s not all — Luxaflex Countrywoods Timber Shutters are kiln-dried to reduce the risk of warping, then painted or stained to create a smooth finish that resists cracking, chipping and flaking.
